Our Growers

The rich, fertile soil conditions and temperate climate of the Pacific Northwest provide the perfect environment to sustainably grow Cultivated Blueberries.
Contracted independent growers are carefully selected by our field department and we work closely with Berryhill Foods Inc. to ensure the highest quality Blueberries are grown. All of our growers are third party certified for Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) to ensure the highest food safety measures.

Receiving and Processing

When Blueberries arrive at Berryhill Foods Inc., the fruit is visually inspected, sampled, graded, and recorded for traceability. The grading process determines which type of further processing the fruit requires. Blueberries are then placed in a temperature-controlled cooler before being processed in a timely manner.

Individual Quick Freeze (I.Q.F)

Our I.Q.F. Blueberry operation makes up the majority of volume produced at Berryhill Foods Inc. After high quality blueberries are selected for I.Q.F. processing, they are washed and visually inspected before entering the temperature controlled I.Q.F. tunnel were the Blueberries are quickly frozen. Blueberries pass through a de-stemmer, laser sorter, metal detector and are size graded into poly-lined totes to await final pack. This state-of-the-art processing equipment allows for a high-quality, free-flowing product that exemplifies the blueberries fresh taste.

I.Q.F. Blueberries are repacked to meet our customer-specific standards. Blueberries are again de-stemmed, laser-sorted, metal detected and visually inspected. All berries are sampled for the highest quality, micro requirements and pesticide tested to ensure they meet destination market requirements.

Storage and Distribution

A large portion of our Blueberries are stored in one of our two cold storage facilities. Having on-site cold storage allows Berryhill Foods Inc. to manage and oversee our customers’ product from the time it is delivered from the farm until the time it is shipped to the final destination. Berryhill Foods Inc. works in partnership with transportation companies to deliver fruit in a reliable and professional manner.
